Allie and Ryan’s Sonoma Wedding.
Allie and Ryan were married at the hacienda de Amor in Sonoma, CA. The owners of the hacienda are Allie’s long time family friends, dressmaker Cena Hansel and her architect husband Roger Hartley. Every corner of the house and property has been thoughtfully and meticulously designed with love and whimsy and boasts stripey awnings below Rapunzel roof decks. The site is perfect for this couple who spent the days leading up to their wedding kicking up dust on the playa, a Mecca of fanciful art and intentionally curated spaces.
Allie worked with Cena to create her dream dress that included a bustle of hand dyed silk ribbons like the ones she used to play with as a child. We carried the dress-up silks through to the reception, draping them across newlywed chairs and stringing them along in the sunlit breeze, creating a great photo backdrop.
No Bialkin-Hole event is complete without a piñata. I had almost as much fun paper mâchéing the cake as much as we all had busting it open!
There was no question that Allie and Ryan’s two dogs and two seater bicycle would be at their wedding so I made whippet flower collars and a light up handlebar garland and just married sign.
A landscaping border fence from the hardware store became the perfect miniature white picket fence to ceremonialize the aisle without heavy petaling.
The arbor is the same arbor that I salvaged and used for allie’s bridal shower.
We chose a palette of muted peaches, oranges, pinks and grey that really popped against navy blue bridesmaids dresses. We used roses, hydrangea, orchids, dahlia’s, hypericum, dusty miller.
